VIA Outlets accredits its centers in Spain as safe shopping destinations

Sevilla Fashion Outlet and Mallorca Fashion Outlet obtain the Bureau Veritas Safer Shopping seal

Sevilla Fashion Outlet and Mallorca Fashion Outlets, premium shopping destinations of the European outlet center operator VIA Outlets, have been certified with the Bureau Veritas Safer Shopping seal. VIA Outlets has partnered with the leading expert in inspection and certification to create this seal, which is already being used by the company’s 11 outlets across Europe. This certificate verifies that the prevention, safety and health protocols that the company has implemented since the advent of the Covid-19 are setting a new standard for the entire industry.

Bureau Veritas, a recognized international leader in inspection, certification and testing services, has created the Safer Shopping certificate especially for VIA Outlets. For this purpose, the certifier has carried out a health and safety audit of the offices and public spaces of the VIA centers, followed by a detailed study of each of the eleven centers in its portfolio, in accordance with the indications of the World Health Organization and the requirements of the health authorities of each of the nine countries in which the company operates.

The solid criteria established by Bureau Veritas for VIA Outlets corroborate that the centers meet the preventive requirements against coronavirus, ensuring the safety and health of its personnel and visitors. To this end, specific training has been provided in the corporate and management areas on Covid-19 and its risks, implementing protection protocols for employees and guests and including access to appropriate PPE and equipment; in addition to an exhaustive adaptation of work spaces and transit of people, all measures have been taken for social distancing and reinforcing the daily cleaning and disinfection of the centers, as well as designing a whole protocol of hygiene and health recommendations for users. In addition, VIA Outlets remains attentive to the indications of the health authorities of each region and will make the relevant adaptations that may be necessary to ensure a safe and healthy environment for tourism and shopping.

Nuno Oliveira, VIA Outlets’ regional director for the Iberian Peninsula, said: “People’s health is our priority, and that is why we rely on the reliability of world leaders in accreditation such as Bureau Veritas. More than just an adaptation to the new norm, we have taken a step forward by designing a protocol for shopping destinations that will lay the foundations for a safe and reliable experience in premium outlet spaces for locals and tourists; we hope that the message will get through and contribute to a faster recovery of the sector”.

Karolina Lachi-Kolarova, Bureau Veritas Certification Director, added: “This is the latest demonstration of how our Restart Your Business solution is supporting organizations in their quest for a safe return to work following the coronavirus crisis. Working in partnership with the VIA Outlets team, we have independently evaluated management procedures and effective implementation at the local level, providing security for staff, customers and operators, with individual guarantee certificates for each retail space and full traceability thanks to our new online platform.
