ENRIQUE NAVARRO JURADO

PhD in Geography, Director of the University Institute of Intelligence Research and Tourism Innovation of the University of Malaga (i3t) and Deputy Secretary of the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Malaga. Professor at the National University of Luján (Argentina) in the Specialization in Heritage Management and Sustainable Tourism (from 2009-2010). At the UMA he is a member of the Geography Department, and of several scientific associations and boards (COOODUR Network, RIZOMA Foundation, Tourism Group of the Spanish Geographers Association…). Founding member and former director of the Research Group “Territory and Tourism” (SEJ-402), to which he currently belongs. Lecturer at the university since 1996.

He has more than 40 publications in national and international journals, indexed (JCR: 9, Scopus 3; Pre-JCR: 1) and 15 articles in Spanish indexed journals (InRecs). It has been cited 519 times with an H Index of 13 and an i10 Index of 14. It has 1 sexennia of research (2007-2013). He has directed 5 theses in the last 10 years and currently directs 4. He is Editor-in-Chief/Director of “Journal of Tourism Analysis: Revista de Análisis Turístico”, of the Spanish Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism.

He has participated in doctorates, master and national and international courses in Spain, Portugal and Latin America and in more than twenty specialized courses in Territory and Tourism.

Expert and advisor to the Blue Plan (UNEP-UN), the ETC-UMA of the European Environment Agency, and various regional and local plans.

He is Principal Investigator of the R+D+i Project “Tourist saturation in Spanish coastal destinations. Tourism decrease strategies. An approach from the social dimension.” 2019-22. He has participated in more than thirty national (Ministry R&D&I, Board Excellence) and international (Brazil, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Argentina …) research projects and in national and international technology transfer contracts.

The lines of research are: Planning and management of tourist destinations. The limits of growth and tourist carrying capacity. Design of tourism policies. Sustainability Indicators. Tourism geoeconomics and geopolitics and socio-environmental implications. Tourism, cooperation and development possibilities in Latin America. Information and Communication Technologies applied to the territory: GIS, SIT. Smart Destination and Samrt City. Multicriteria analysis and its application to sustainability and climate change.
