As part of the actions focused on identifying and positioning the craft sector in the territories that comprise Chile, the National Crafts Committee (composed of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, through its Crafts area; and the School of Design of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, through its Crafts Programme, with the sponsorship of the WCC and the UNESCO Santiago Office), invites creators of the country to apply for the Seal of Excellence for Crafts in Chile 2022.
“This recognition highlights the excellence of handicrafts at the national level, according to UNESCO parameters, with the aim of encouraging creativity and promoting creators, creators and their pieces, thereby strengthening their cultural, social and economic value,” said the Undersecretary of Cultures, Andrea Gutiérrez Vásquez.
In this version, the online application will be maintained for the first stage, and then, those who are eligible will be asked to submit their works in person. To apply, you can access the Single Application Form on the website http://selloexcelencia.cultura.gob.cl and complete it until 30 May at 17.00 hours (Chilean time).
The selected pieces will be nominated for the next version of the Unesco Recognition of Excellence for handicrafts from the Southern Cone countries.
The Seal of Excellence for Crafts is part of the actions of recognition and awards promoted by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, through its Crafts area, and its implementation is aligned with the objectives of international recognition of crafts awarded by Unesco. Since 2008 it has been awarded to 159 pieces of craftsmanship, which obtain an official promotion certificate that guarantees the quality and authenticity of the work.
