Ask for the return of the activity in the AMBA. He warned of the closure of more than 25% of the local businesses since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Argentine Chamber of Shopping Centers (CASC) reiterated today the request for the opening of shopping centers with health and safety protocols, and warned about the closure of more than 25% of the local companies since the beginning of the restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“From the Argentine Chamber of Shopping Centers we request, from the very beginning of the pandemic, the opening of the Shopping Centers without this request having found a favorable echo so far, in the competent authorities”, indicated the entity in a statement.
The CASC sent the request for opening from next Monday to the ministers of Production of Buenos Aires, Augusto Costa, and of Economic Development of Buenos Aires, José Luis Giusti, in a note signed by the president of the entity, Ramón Villaveirán; the general manager, Mario Nirenberg, and the head of the Argentine Federation of Commercial Employees, Armando Cavalieri.
From the CASC they pointed out that the sector generates 13,200 direct and indirect jobs and that “the severity of the crisis generated by more than one hundred and fifty days of inactivity, has caused the closure of more than 25% of the companies located, a figure that increases every day.
Employment,” he added, “has fallen by the same amount, affecting 10,000 jobs in CABA and in Greater Buenos Aires; the state aid from the ATP is not enough to support the local companies, mostly SMEs, which, with no activity, are ceasing to operate, many of them permanently”.
The chamber stated that “the reality is that there is no economic activity that can sustain the payment of salaries, taxes and services, without income during such a long period of closure”.
“The protocol presented by our chamber ensures the adoption of prophylactic measures with superior standards for our commercial activity, as can be verified in the dozens of shopping centers reopened in the interior of our country,” he concluded
